Royal Isle was first founded some two hundred years ago, by three stallions. Astute, Eleuin, and Voetsek. At the time, the land had been simply known as the Isle. Back in those days life was much simpler with the way things where done. Everyone got along, for everyone wanted to live to see another day, but not all were happy simply living. Voetsek, a stallion of bulk and ash wanted it all. He was not happy with just the western part of the land. He was a clever stallion and knew he couldn't take over all of the Isle alone though, so he gathered followers, he even gave three of his most loyal followers herd land. There names where Ivan, Riot, and Ransom.
Word got to Astute, and so he too started to build an army. It was hard at first as most didn't want to fight, but when he explained things, they joined. Astute was many things, a clever worded and amazing speech giver was just some of those things. In his quest to raise an army he gave land to his three bravest, and most loyal followers, a white and bay paint stallion named, Bhear. A dappled gray stallion named Valentino and a black colored Arabian mare named Lady Haze. The time was tense as both sides grow in strength and numbers. Mares where asked to breed with strong warrior stallions in order to hopefully breed more colts to train for an incoming war which was always on the mind of Astute, as Voetsek took his time to make sure his army was ready and would so no mercy. This time is known in lore as the silent moon. For it is the time Astute prepared the north to protect it's self, well Voetsek readied his troops to turn even the moon red with the blood of the enemy.
At the same time as Astute and Voetsek prepared to battle, Eleuin wanted no part of it. All he wanted was peace. As did so many others, many from Astute, and Voetsek's own alliances left to join Eleuin. For Eleuin was neutral on the whole thing and didn't create an army. With Voetsek being so focused on Astute, the bay stallion felt there was no need for one. Others, like the idea of not having to be forced to join an army, or having to breed to sent their children to slaughter. Many more and more joined Eleuin, he gave three stallion within the south land. Maximilian a proud, but cunning Gypsy Vanner. Gunther a brave, but not really all to bright chestnut, and Donald a very smart and almost to loyal, clingy Buckskin. Out of all the stallions in the South these had been the three that had been with him the longest.
In the time it took for for Voetsek to get his army just how he wanted, ten years had past. All three alliances had grown, and all three kings had been given an heir to their throne. It would see that Voetsek has a sense of humor, for he had named his heir, his son Chaos. Quiet fitting for what was yet to come. Astute's heir came a year after Voetsek's son and his boy was named Knight. Would Knight be the hero of the alliance? Only time would tell. Eleuin's heir came much later then the other alliances. For by the time Chaos and Knight reached the age of studhood, Noah was just being born.
Things where tense for a long time, so long that Astute started to relax in his older years. Being around fifteen years old, the stallion had started to think that Voetsek was all talk, and show. No action, but that was what the now fourteen year old stallion wanted him to think. When it seemed like all was safe, it happened. In the dead of night on autumn Voetsek sent teams of his followers, teams from his army and sent them on raids. Over night dozens of mares and foals went missing. It had began.
Despite the counter measures that Astute put into place, where no mare or foal could be left alone and must have a stallion with them at all time, things just got worse. The smaller herds that didn't have any land where being wiped out. Mares and foals taken, stallions and the elders, were being killed. Astute was becoming sick from all the stress, he even called all of his alliance to come to his herd land. A huge meeting took place and there was a lot of words said. As well as a lot of prays being made to the heavens. After the meeting, Astute had his army take post in the royal herd land, with everyone that was left from the alliance taking shelter there. Things where not looking good for the Astute alliance. Their leader even went to Eleuin, but the now fourteen year old stallion wanted nothing to do with the war and turned Astute away.
While Astute was returning home, he found his son in the Crystal Forest. Knight was sick, very shaky and weak. Worry had washed over his father, as the stallion asked him what was the matter. After being told he had found a spring and had drunk from it, Astute was shocked. There were no springs in the forest. So, despite how he was feeling Knight lead his father to the spring and sure enough it was there. By the time that they had arrived Knight head and back where hurting greatly. It felt as if something was trying to rip out of him from his shoulder. Astute looked at the spring, sniffed and even did the stupidest thing he could think of, he drunk from it.
Hours past and both grow sicker, the members of army grow worried when their king and heir didn't return home, there was much panic. However, Knight was the first to have the effects of the spring happen to him. From his back wings like a swan sprung, large and massive. They matched his white frame, on his head his head ache was driving him crazy. The pain made him moan, and then it was gone as large cream colored horns like that of a gazelle grow on his skull. His father was in awe and both where amazed, but Astute's pain was still happening. It would be an hour and half later that he would grow his wings and horns. Large wings of a bird, grey in color, on his head long grey gazelle like horns also grow. After all the pain that had been in, the two realized the spring was a blessing, it was their prays answered.
They returned to the herd, to the army who all looked at them with amazement. When the two made it back home they where feeling better, but they where suffering from quiet a bit of soreness. It would seem though that there was a spy within the land though as upon spotting the king and his heir one mare left the royal herd land and went to Voetsek's land. She found him and told him what she saw. He however, laughed at her and took it as a joke.
There was a few more week that past from the time Knight and Astute first visited the spring. In those weeks, the two of them trained with their wings, they learned how to fly and got stronger with them. One day as Knight was flying he spotted something on the horizon. It was Voetsek and his whole army coming to march on Astute for a final battle. Knight returned home and told his father, who quickly got the army ready. Nursing mothers, and pregnant mares stayed with all the foals who were under two years of age. In that early autumn dawn there was much blood that would be split, Astute would do his best to keep the young safe. Before Voetsek and his army could get there, Astute sent the young and those mare, which was about a dozen and a half away. He sent them to hid in Crystal Forest. No, one had been able to find the spring again, so maybe one of the child would be lucky and find it.
As the sun started to rise, Astute and Knight placed them selves at the front of the waiting army as Voetsek arrived with Chaos by his side. When Voetsek saw that what his spy had said wasn't a joke he grow enraged with jealousy. He wanted wings, he wanted horns and if he couldn't have them no one would. In his rage he set his army forward, the battle was on.
As the battle rages on, blood splatters against the ground, and there is dead all around. The land was full of nose, cries and yelling. It was so loud that the outer reaches of Eleuin could hear the battle raging on.
In the battle, Astute fought many, even killed many. When it came time to face Voetsek, the brute wasn't there. The coward had left the battle to search for this spring that had given his enemy horns and wings. Astute fearing for the children hidden in the forest ran after him. Astute left the battle, telling his son that he was no king. His first order of business as king was to fight Chaos, who got the upper hand on him quickly by blind siding him and ripping off his wings with help from two other stallion in the Voetsek army. Luckily for Knight other's in the Astute army came to his aid.
As Knight and the rest fought, Astute chased after Voetsek. When he found the monster he had two fillies cornered. That was when without warning Astute attacked Voetsek. Jamming his horns into the stallion's ribs and knocking him off his hooves. He drew Voetsek away from the children and the two fought. In the end they both some how ended up back where the battle was taking place, but it didn't matter. With on last gab of his horns Astute killed Voetsek, but Astute didnt't have much time to soak in what had happened. He died very quickly thereafter of blood loss and from the injuries he had.
In the end the war was a draw. Both sides knew when to give up. By the time the sun was high in the sky all that was left of Astute was Knight, three stallions, and those hiding in the forest. For Voetsek, there was even less. Just Chaos and two mares. Still being out numbered, Chaos and the mares retreated, leaving the battle field and taking shelter outside of the Isle.
The land that had once been known as the royal herd land of the Astute alliance, was not a graveyard and for evermore the land was called Nevermore Graveyard.
With the Voetsek alliance in hiding, and the Astute alliance a mess, it was just the Eleuin alliance left. Years went by, and Knight and the rest of his father's alliance left the Isle to find a better future. Life in the Eleuin alliance wasn't going too well. Some left the Isle as well, others bickered with themselves. After the death of Eleuin at age twenty-one, his son Noah took over as king, and all hell broke loss. Within ten year of the battle between Astute and Voetsek, the Eleuin alliance shattered.
It had been a tense run, starting out peaceful, but ending in sorrow. After twenty-five years the great land of the Isle was no more. The children of the once great leaders still lived, but the Isle was abandoned. There was no fighting the after shock of all that had happened to the land.
Some hundred of seventy-five years later the Isle was nothing more then a fairy tale, that was until the great great great great great grandson of Noah found his way to the Isle. The land was now known as the Royal Isle, for it was the final resting place of the great kings. With the stories of the great land being told from generation, to generation many where eager to return to the land and in a fine spring many did. The land was starting to wake up.
